How it works

  • Do you have an idea how to involve the private sector in climate adaptation or mitigation in Tanzania?
  • Go to the website www.momo4climate.org to submit your idea
  • The MoMo Panel, consisting of financial experts, will assess your business case to determine its viability and the potential to mobilise private investments
  • Late 2018 the best ideas will be presented in Tanzania for a live audience of investors that will select the winning proposal
  • The winner will receive a € 25.000 price to strengthen and scale up their business case, with the support of the MoMo Panel
  • Deadline for submitting proposals is 31st of August

About MoMo Challenge

MoMo is an initiative from IUCN National Committee of The Netherlands (IUCN NL) and the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NL MFA). The aim of the MoMo initiative is to guide ideas that have strong potential to positively impact climate change to projects that are ‘investor-ready’.

MoMo Challenge Tanzania is held in cooperation with the Royal Dutch Embassy in Tanzania and SAGCOT Centre LtdEntrepreneurs, companies and non-government organisations are invited to bring forward innovative proposals with a business case that aims to attract private investment for a climate mitigation or adaptation project in Tanzania with a focus on the Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor (SAGCOT).

Project description
What is the overall objective and what are the specific goals you expect to achieve? What climate change related problem(s) are you addressing? (max. 300 words)
How will your intervention solve these climate change related problems and generate more finance flows? What will be your approach to achieve your objective and goals? (max. 300 words)
Please make sure to answer all of the following questions (max. 500 words in total):
  1. Why should clients use your product or service? What is your value proposition?
  2. Who exactly are the customers of your product or service or technology? How do you reach out to your customers and what relationship do you have with them?
  3. What are the potential scale, sector and geographic focus of the intervention?
  4. Who are your partners and who do you need as your partners to successfully fulfil your value proposition?
  5. How will your project attract private investments?
Please make sure to answer all of the following questions (max. 300 words in total):
  1. What are the available resources for this project (monetary and non-monetary)?
  2. What is the cost structure, i.e. what are the expected fixed and variable costs?
  3. What revenue streams do you expect and when? Please quantify.
Please briefly discuss the risks and barriers to implementation of the intervention (max. five bullets).
What concrete help or input do you need to implement your idea or intervention: access to; finance, network, expertise, exposure etc? Please describe clearly what you need the funding for and how much funding you need. Be as specific as possible in explaining what the money will be spent on. (max. 300 words)
