Joëlla van Rijn is Coordinator Climate Finance at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign affairs. She is responsible for analysis and implementation of clever strategies to leverage public climate spending in developing countries with private investment. She manages a portfolio of several initiatives that foster and advance innovative, mixed financial instruments, such as MoMo and the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Change. Joëlla is an experienced policy coordinator, international negotiator, analyst, and project manager. During her career at the Ministry, she gained advanced knowledge in the areas of public finance, trade and development cooperation, access to energy, climate change, gender equality and risk-assessment. Prior to her career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she worked as an ecotoxicologist at the Free University of Amsterdam and she managed climate studies in Nicaragua, Bolivia, Surinam, Costa Rica and Ecuador at the Dutch Coastal Zone Management Centre.
