We are happy to announce the finalists of MoMo4Climate 2018!

The exciting semi-finals for MoMo4Climate international took place at the IUCN NL event Building Bridges between Finance & Nature on September 19th. Hosted by EY in Amsterdam, representatives from the financial sector, business, the public sector, NGOs, academia, and others came together to learn from experts and to contribute to specific sustainable finance projects. The selected eight entrepreneurs for the semi-finals of MoMo4Climate pitched their sustainable business ideas and competed for a position in the final event. Read more on our event here.  

The competition for the finals was strong and we saw eight well defined and ambitious climate smart initiatives. Each and everyone skilled in their field and business case. And strongly committed to build on tackling the impacts and causes of climate change in developing countries.

The audience participated in the decision making process and selected the proposals that they would invest in. However, the jury members took the final vote decided upon the six best proposals that continue towards the final event in Paris.     

The finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their idea in front of the MoMo panel, investors, corporates and government actors during the GIIN Investor Forum 2018 which will take place on October 31st in Paris. The winner will be chosen through the number of votes by the audience and the panel and will receive € 25.000 euro seed finance to kickstart his/her idea. 

The following six proposals have been selected to proceed to the finals:

  • Simutlaan BV: Biomass Pellet Industry in Nepal
  • Viet Nature: Sustainable timber plantation management
  • Green Leaf Protein
  • Bluerise: Sustainable cooling and power from the ocean
  • Nature Connect India: Saving forests for business, climate and communities in the Western Ghats of India
  • Agro Eco BV: Timber in Cocoa Agroforestry
