Hein Gietema has been working in the international finance and infrastructure domains for over 20 years, and currently owns the consultancy CSC Strategy & Finance. Hein has a strong background in developing and structuring infrastructure funds. At present, Hein is employed to implement the KIFFWA programme (Kenya Innovative Financing Facility for Water), which entails the setting-up of a water project developer, a Water Financing Facility (issuing local currency water bonds) and to develop bankable water projects in Kenya. Hein is also partner within a Singapore based management team setting up a Private Equity fund for the industry water sectors in emerging Asia. Hein has worked as a financial and transaction advisor for various companies and in over 25 countries. Accordingly, he advised the Dutch MFA on various funds involving environment and development, and served as a Non-Executive Director appointed by FMO on the Board of the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (EAIF); a USD 800 million public-private fund providing long-term commercial (subordinated) debt to private infrastructure projects in Sub Saharan Africa. Prior to starting his own consultancy CSC Strategy & Finance Hein worked for the economic advisory firm ECORYS. He started his career at the Netherlands investment bank NIBC in the infrastructure and real estate finance department. He concluded his Masters (‘with merit’) in Business Economics at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
